Flazh Alley Studio

Mission Statement

Flazh!Alley Studio is designed as a space for that vanishing sector of humanity, “The Adult.”

Over my many years of actively participating in the world of art in practically every aspect of it including curating, marketing, creating and writing about it I realized something, adults were being held hostage by the politically correct attitude that art must be a shared experience that must involve children. Whether you have them, or not, public opinion and peer pressure requires that they be encouraged to be at cultural affairs that are not really appropriate for them, nor is it right that the rest of society to be at the mercy of this outdated notion.

How many art openings have I been to, where children were allowed, that felt more like a three ring circus than a space where one could view art work in a proper and respectful presentation without hearing some little folks screaming at the top of their lungs about wanting to go home because they’re bored.

I feel really sorry for these children because they really are having a terrible time. They want to be with their friends, or families doing recreational, physical kinds of activities. They want to do things that they’re interested in and feel they are actually participating in the event. At an art opening, one attends because they want to, they want to be intellectually stimulated, they want to be able to have intelligent and lively discussions, pro and con, with other adults about the work. They would enjoy a space where interesting conversation, on any subject is encouraged, a space where the art is edgy, provocative, complicated and thought provoking. A space where if four letter words are used in moments of passionate discussion about a subject, it won’t earn you the disdain from someone for using that kind of language “in front of the children.” A space where adults can do something else that children don’t do………buy art.

Children and their advocates in the arts have us, adults, believing that we are being unfair because we happen to support children being exposed to the arts in appropriate venues, that’s what schools should be for and parents who can, should, take their children to art events targeted to them as well as all the museums that are available. Children do have choices and lots more than the adults.

Thus, Flazh!Alley is a space dedicated to showing erotic and adult themed work exclusively. A space where you have to be18 years of age or older, a space where people who have issues with adult themed work are advised not to attend, a space where the receptions are by invitation only, small, intimate and informal.

Flazh!Alley is also not here to feed peoples stomachs but rather your other senses by serving up banquets of fresh and exciting works of art by a cadre of emerging artists to satisfy your artistic pallet. For that reason, Flazh!Alley never has a buffet. Only champagne, water and ART.

Flazh!Alley Studio is available for private party’s, independent art exhibits and fundraisers.
